Romantic Christmas Decorations in Liepaja

Christmas decorations in Liepaja

Sweet walks through the city of the wind

Christmas is definitely one of our most favourite holidays. There’s so much to it. One must survive the Christmas shopping madness and enjoy the abundance of a proper Christmas dinner (we cooked our first one last year!). But once all of that is done and the presents have been opened, there’s always a little time left to reflect upon how the year went and put all our thoughts together before we meet the next.

Shortly after all the joyous bits of Christmas, we still have a little time to reflect year that has passed.

For the majority of our winter holidays, we took it easy and spent days with Oskar’s family in Liepaja (Liepāja). It’s a city on the south-western coast of Latvia (Latvia) and it’s known as the city of the wind and music.

The Christmas decorations in Liepaja were magical

Gingerbread houses, pretty bridges and lanterns on well-lit streets and in the trees. Of course, the grand Christmas tree in the centre of the city accompanied by thousands of lights. All these decorations were absolutely wonderful, day or night. As a matter of a fact, we enjoyed them so much, we couldn’t resist walking through the city three times, just to show you how magical it all was.

The theme that glued everything together was time. All decorations reminded us of it and how precious it is. Sculptures had been built from clocks and the nearby lanterns had clocks painted on them. Do you remember the novel, Alice’s adventures in Wonderland? Well, Liepaja’s city centre had installations for it too – big books, Alice herself and a big, grand chair.

The theme that glued everything together was time.
